Our very short History

We were formed as ScribesRus on the 21 August 2006 after running for about six months as Academy of Creative Scribblers       

 A.C.S. had been formed when the creative writing course, which had started in January 2006 and run by Richard Jones on behalf of the University of Wales Swansea, finished and a book was to be published. This book, a selection of short stories and poetry by the students, came about from the friendship that had developed during the writing course and this want to carry on with this companionship has lead to the forming of ScribesRus.
 
On 21st August 2006 the group was reorganised by the newly formed committee and constituted under the name of ScribesRus. A Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer were appointed as well as the purchasing of our web address. This web site followed later.
 
December 31st 2006 saw the first book, the Long and Short of It , published by the new group. On Friday 26th January 2007 the doors of the Amman Valley Enterprise Building in Quay Street Ammanford were open for the book launch. Dignitaries from Carmarthenshire County Council were present as well as members of the general public.                       

On Saturday 3rd February 2007 in Brynaman Community Centre a further launch was held with Councillor Elwyn Williams wishing us luck with sales. Members of the group read short items to a enthusiastic audience bolstered by a lovely buffet.
